Give Me A Face.
"We get paid for bringing value to the marketplace" (Jim Rohn)
The Three Most Common Social Media Marketing Mistakes:
1.SPAM your friend and connections- Send a friend request and include your product, system or opportunity info in the invitation! But if you want to be successful, do NOT do this! Instead, get to know the person first and determine whether they have ANY interesting in being a prospect for you! (The other day I received just such a spammy invitation from someone in the same affiliate program as myself, which told me that they had done so without bothering to check out my profile to find out a bit about me first, or they would have known!)
2.DO NOT have your picture on your profile – …. well… NOT! What is even funnier is that I have received SPAM from people who have not even taken the time to put their picture up, or any meaningful description on their profile! Or I’ve seen pictures of product as the profile avatar, and a name something like ‘MakeMoMoney!’ or ‘JuggleJuiceDrink’….. Am I (or ANYONE else) supposed to take that seriously?
3.DO NOT provide SOLUTIONS to PROBLEMS that your target market is facing. This is a sure fire way to NOT build KLT (Know-Like-and-Trust), the basis of relationships, which is the foundation of any successful business! I don’t care if your product, service or system DOES solve a problem, IF YOU DO want to succeed at this, then GIVE first without receiving! It is all about reciprocity, and providing value!
In building relationships with others within our social media circles it is imperative not to spam others with our Biz-Ops and programs. Sending messages to our associates with nothing but what we promote is spamming pure and simple. Also I have never figured out why online marketers use avatars or logos instead of a photo of themselves. Avatars or logos are so impersonal. Most of us don't have "movie star" looks but that is no reason not to use a photo of ourselves. Relationships involve people not company brands. I seldom desire to connect with someone who uses an avatar. Give me a face, even if it is a face that "only a mother could love". A face represents an imperfect human like me. If Mom could love it so can I. I can do business with a face that doesn't spam me.

Be Influential.
"We get paid for bringing value to the marketplace" (Jim Rohn)
| Influence is a powerful word, permanently ingrained into the digital landscape in which we live, work and play. In essence, influence means you're inspiring others without having direct control over whether they take action. Most seek to build influence; measure influence; and yes, some will even attempt to sell influence. Yet, few will achieve action-inspiring influence without planning and effort. Influence Isn't the Same as Popularity A study revealed that most people see popularity and influence quite differently. Not much has changed since findings were published in 2010. If anything, in the age of authority and influence being generated though social engagement, one could say influence yields more power and is more sought after than ever. Eighty-four percent of 700 business leaders, entrepreneurs, and marketing professionals believe there is a correlation between an influencer’s reach and their ability to drive action, according to the study. The comment Popularity is fleeting. Influence lasts, articulates how differently humans perceive popularity and influence. When I was young I wanted to be popular. Now that I am old I want to be influential. I realized somewhere down the Road Of Life that popularity is fleeting and superficial while influence is lasting and real. Being a parent showed me that being popular with my kids was not as good as being influential with my kids. The same applies in network marketing. Building and maintaining a network marketing team or an MLM downline demands influence. The key to having influence is being trustworthy and respected. Persons that have influenced me the most are those whom I respect and trust. I appreciate honesty and transparency far more than knowledge and expertise. The person that influences me the most is not the one that knows all the answers but the one that helps me to find the answers for myself. When we were in school, the teachers who showed us how to find the answers for our selves were the teachers that most influenced us. Being popular is putting ourselves above others. Being influential is putting others above ourselves. Be influential. |

Social media marketing is challenging. A good point to remember is don't be a "commercial". Even here on a business social network like IBOtoolbox constantly promoting our Biz-ops, products and services is a turn off, even to our fellow online marketers. Commenting on other's press releases and community posts is good for business in the social networks arena.
By and large, people don’t want to hear you “sell” your services to them through social networks. There is nothing wrong with using social media to promote what you have to offer, but make sure that you really engage with your audience in a genuine manner and provide some real value to them. People are far more likely to do business with someone they like.

Building Your Own Brand
In the midst of your social media marketing strategy, I have to ask – is your blog at the heart of your marketing?
I know that probably sounds strange to ask – you know me for my love of social media, especially when it comes to using social media for your SEO.
But I have to tell you this – your social media should be an extension of your marketing strategy. Your social media isn't the focus of your strategy. It shouldn't be your primary strategy.
And it shouldn't be what you focus the majority of your attention on.
Sure, scheduling your updates and responding to your customers and prospects takes time.
But your site is your virtual storefront. It is the one thing online that represents you and your brand to your customers, and it's the place online where you share your story with your customers.
For this and so many other reasons, your website (blog) is at the heart of your online marketing and must be respected accordingly.

Familiarity Breeds Relationships
While each social media platform has different features, layouts, and functionality, one thing can always remain the same – your branding.
The following are seven tips and examples of how to consistently portray your brand across multiple social media networks.
1 – Grab Your Brand Name
2 – Use the Same Profile Photo
3 – Run the Same Campaign
4 – Promote the Same Tagline
5 – Create the Same Theme
Consistency is paramount to successful social media marketing. Once you have decided upon your brand name, photo and theme run with them consistently. Even your campaigns should be uniform across the social media site boundaries. Familiarity breeds not contempt but relationships in social media marketing.

Tone Of Voice Matters
Simply put, tone of voice is the way we say things. In a subtle manner, the tone of communications can reveal
the attitudes and personality of a brand. Differentiating your company
from a growing number of competitors across social media communities
like Facebook and Google + can be difficult, but using a distinctive
tone of voice that is true to your brand’s identity can help you to
stand out from the crowd.
Of course, there are general considerations to think about when coming up with an appropriate tone for your social media communications. Overall, the language used on sharing services such as Twitter or blogging platforms like Tumblr is more personal and conversational. When considering tone, a global head of digital services should keep in mind the fact that most social media networks were created for individuals, not for companies. Thus, it is imperative to be authentic, approachable, inclusive, expressive, and to keep your ears open, just as you would with any conversation.
(Please click on the keywords "social media" to read the full article)
In normal conversation the tone of voice says just as much if not more than spoken words. In our social media communications there should be a tone of voice to our social media brand. For instance if we are considered some sort of expert by others there should be a instructive tone to our social media content. If we are selling travel packages we should have a tour guide tone to our social media content. The tone of voice that I try to have with this blog is that of a social media curator, collecting and sharing a different perspective of what is floating around in the Web 2.0 world. Our tone of voice matters to our online brand.

Brands Are Ideas Not Products
When Steve Jobs passed away, one of the most poignant comments I
heard about him was that he didn't give us Apple computers, iPods or
iPads. Rather, he gave us Apple. He gave us a meaning that we could
connect with emotionally for those of us who, like Jobs, value what is
promoted through Apple's theme line, "Think Different." The reason we
could connect with this meaning isn't because Steve Jobs put that
meaning into our belief system. It was already there. Like a good story,
meanings associated with Apple are meanings that, to borrow from
Orwell, "fascinate or more exactly reassure us." Apple gave us something
we were already predisposed to receiving.
The reason this is an important concept is plain to see when examining powerful brands like Apple, Harley-Davidson, Disney, Nike and others that tap into and/or celebrate our existing values. But just as there are lessons from success, there are lessons from underestimating just how important it is for brands to crystallize rather than create meaning.

A product or personal "brand" is not a label for something or someone but an idea or concept about something or someone. As the above article points out, "Apple" was not the label for the innovative products Steve Jobs created but rather the concept or idea of "Think Different". When it comes to our personal online marketing "brand",it is not the products or services we market or promote but rather the idea or concept behind what we do in our online marketing. "Brands" are ideas not products.

It's All About Me
This weekend while browsing on the IBOtoolbox "dashboard" I found what is now my "Universal Profile". On my "Universal Profile" I have an avatar, a headline, an "about me" description, my major social media links as well as my social network and advertising system links. There is a lot of different layouts for my "about.me" profile and other profiles are very eye catching. I love it. This is a great branding tool. Check it out for yourself at your earliest convenience because it's all about me.

Have You Tried APSense Lately?
In my estimation there are at least a dozen great business social networks on the Web today. One in that number is the APSense business social network. What makes APSense unique among the business social networks is the quality content products available to free members. First the APSense profile gives you a good brand. There are "Rev Pages" to give reviews for any product, service or Biz-Op you desire. There are articles with great rich content and HTML. There is the APSense Business Center, your own customizable website to promote anything you want. Plus there are a dozen other APSense Add On products like ezines, an advertising social game, Traffic Exchange, a "Team Promote" that pays you to promote among other "add ons". You can also sell your "talents" to other members. There are paid sponsored ads at $10 for one week, a great value, as well as Solo Ads to the entire membership of about 80,000. Many like the many groups available on APSense. APSense is well worth the time and money spent on promoting your Biz-Ops and branding yourself. Give it a try soon!

Every Day A Journey
An online diary is a personal diary or journal that is published on the World Wide Web on a personal website or a diary-hosting website.
Online diaries have existed since at least 1994. As a community formed, these publications came to be almost exclusively known as online journals. Today they are almost exclusively called blogs, though some differentiate by calling them personal blogs. The running updates of online diarists combined with links inspired the term 'web log' which was eventually contracted to form the word 'blog'.
In online diaries, people write about their day-to-day experiences, social commentary, complaints, poems, prose, illicit thoughts and any content that might be found in a traditional paper diary or journal. They often allow readers to contribute through comments or community posting.
(PLEASE READ THE FULL ARTICLE)
In my evolving social networking and online marketing agenda I've finally found the blog format that fits into that agenda, a diary blog. Blogging can be burdensome to me without a clear focus. Blogging has to be fun to some extent for me to maintain it. "My Networking Day" I hope to be informative and inspiring for all those who read it. Join me on my online networking journey. "Every day is a journey, and the journey itself is home. "

Appearance Is Important
Creating a website that makes money day in and day out is challenging – but very rewarding! Whether you’re on your first money making site or your hundredth, it’s important to have this checklist in place to make sure that you’re hitting all the right notes and maximizing the funds that you’re making from your websites. Copy this list and refer to it often when you’re creating a website.
1. A tight niche.
2. An appealing design.
3. Lots of content.
4. A money making element.
5. An email list.
6. Social media links.
7. Contact us and privacy policy.
(Please visit website article source and further links)
The content and design of any website is very important. Good content and design will result in subscribers, back links and high page rank. You can't have a great online "brand" with poor quality content and website design. The same goes with affiliate referral pages. Poor content and website design means no referrals. In choosing what affiliate program to promote content and the design of your referral page is just as important as the product and compensation plan of the Biz-Op or program. Substance is important but so is appearance, as I see it. How do you see it?
