How Can I Help You.

Malcolm Gladwell's The Tipping Point, one of my favorite books, defined "connectors" as "the people in a community who know large numbers of people and who are in the habit of making introductions." Scott is such a connector. In fact, he's the best networker I've ever met, so I asked Scott for his tips about how to network. The secrets are out, below:

1. Always be thinking about the other person, not personal gain

2. Build a network around an idea that people believe in.

3. Maximize access.

4. Don't go for meaningless "numbers".

5. Systematize it.

6. Always be connecting.

7. Dedicate real and meaningful time.

8. Be a hybrid,

9. Above all else, be there to help people.

The essence of network marketing is connecting with people. We connect with people through needs, desires and values we commonly share. However those shared needs, desires and values may include money but must transcend just money. The best way to connect with others is by being helpful. Being helpful can be providing information, encouragement or inspiration. Being helpful can also include doing something for others with no expectation of favors returned. In the novel and movie "The Godfather", the family patriarch built his fortune on doing favors for others and helping people when they had a need besides the regular Mafia criminal activities. LOL! The Godfather was a superb networker or connector despite being a crime boss. The five heartfelt words that will always open the doors of success in network marketing is "how-can-I-help-you?"
