As the above article points out, success in social media marketing includes focusing on your "target market". If we are online marketers, we don't need to be posting to the politics, celebrity or fashion target markets but rather we should find where other online marketers gather in the social media world. There are many excellent business social networks on the Web, several of which I highlight here on My Networking Day. There are also Facebook Groups that are explicitly for online marketers such as "Advertise Your Business Here" and "Home Based Business Opportunities". Ninety five percent of my 3600+ Twitter followers are online marketers, thus my Tweets are to a targeted market of my own creation. LinkedIn has become a great place for online marketers as well as employers and people looking for jobs. Know your target market.
