Get Serious About LinkedIn

LinkedIn has rapidly risen to popularity amongst consumers and businesses alike. Alongside Twitter and Facebook, it has become a vital element in the marketer’s social media toolbox.

However, it’s fair to say that LinkedIn is more useful to some than others. LinkedIn is great if your clientele are businesses, if you are a freelancer, if you are seeking career opportunities, or you’re a business seeking new recruits. It’s not so useful if your prime social media focus is fun and humour.

LinkedIn can be valuable for building links and driving traffic to your blogs and website.  But you can do this on Facebook and Twitter right? Yes, but LinkedIn is focussed on business and developing your professional connections. People on LinkedIn are actively thinking about their company, their career, and how to build them. In fact, it’s a must have for those seeking career opportunities as well as those primarily focused on sales and B2B interactions

For a long while I  stayed away from LinkedIn because of my perception of this social site as one for employees seeking jobs and employers seeking new hires. However now I find LinkedIn to be a great place for online affiliate marketers. Being an associate, distributor or sales agent of a company that markets using MLM affiliates is just as valid as being a paid or salaried employee and LinkedIn apparently recognizes this fact. LinkedIn is not about fun and games but LinkedIn is all about serious business networking. Get serious about LinkedIn.
